When I think of grilling during the summer, it typically involve burgers, hot dogs, or BBQ chicken along with some fresh watermelon on the side. While most people use ground beef for their burgers, I like to use ground turkey for a lower saturated fat option. I saw this spinach feta turkey burger recipe floating around social media and thought, “I have to try this one”.
The original recipe for the spinach-feta turkey burgers comes from Allrecipes.com. I altered it just a slight bit.
Spinach Feta Turkey Burgers
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey 93/7
- 1 egg
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup spinach , finely chopped
- 2 oz feta cheese , crumbled
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix all ingredients together until well combined.
- Form 6 patties (about 3-4 oz each) and place in the fridge until ready for the grill.
- When the grill is ready, place the burgers directly on the grill grates and carefully flip when the sides of the burger are cooked, but the middle still looks slightly raw.
- Cook the burgers until they reach about 165 degrees F internally.
Serve turkey burgers with tzatziki sauce, red onion, and tomato on a whole wheat bun.
Make your meal even healthier by omitting the chips and go for grilled vegetables instead. Check out my grilled rainbow veggie recipe which goes great with these spinach feta turkey burgers. Then bring it all together with my mint iced tea recipe!
