My Top 5 Cookbooks for the Mediterranean Diet

I hear this so often, “What is a good cookbook for the Mediterranean Diet?”. The thing is, it depends on what exactly you are looking for with your lifestyle. You may have noticed, the Mediterranean diet has gained a lot of popularity in recent years. So naturally there are a TON of cookbooks out there on the topic.

Here are my top 5 cookbooks for the Mediterranean diet (in no particular order):

Mediterranean Diet Cookbook for Two by Anne Danahy, RDN
If you are looking to keep portions in check or don’t want to be left with a ton of leftovers, there’s a cookbook specifically made for two people! The beginning of the book reviews the basics of the Mediterranean diet and tips on how to grocery shop for two.
Recommended recipe: Orange Olive Oil Mug Cakes (page 167)

The 30-Minute Mediterranean Diet Cookbook by Serena Ball, MS, RDN and Deanna Segrave-Daly, RDN
Do you find it difficult to follow the Mediterranean diet because there is just not enough time in the day to make an elaborate dinner? If you feel like you are always on the run, this cookbook is for you. The first chapter discusses the basics of the Mediterranean diet and the health benefits for reducing various chronic diseases. Recipes are also labeled for those who need to follow any diet restrictions such as gluten-free or if you are looking for meals and snacks that only use one pot.

Love Real Food by Kathryn Taylor
Next up is one of my favorite cookbooks. This one is not specifically geared towards Mediterranean eating. However, the recipes follow a lot of the same guidelines. I have tried numerous recipes from this book. If you want to know if her cooking tastes are what you are looking for, check out some of her recipes on Pinterest as well.
Recommended recipes: Banana Nut Bread (page 22) and Chickpea Tikka Masala with Green Rice (page 157)

Mediterranean Air Fryer by Katie Hale
Air fryers are a great alternative when you don’t have access to an oven. If you are new to using an air fryer, this cookbook also provides some great beginner information.
Recommended recipe: Artichoke and Olive Flatbread (page 43)

The Complete Mediterranean Cookbook by America’s Test Kitchen
This one is for the more adventurous cooks out there. If you are interested in learning various cooking techniques, I can’t recommend this cookbook enough.
Recommended recipe: Chicken Tagine with Chickpeas and Apricots (page 303)
